New Build of a single Storey Carls Junior building in Hornby, Christchurch. This is the first new build of a Carls Jr restaurant in the South Island.

The build consisted of back of house kitchen and storage areas, including commercial cooking and refrigeration equipment, front of house restaurant area including detailed joinery, lighting, electrical and amenities fitout. The external works for the Carls Jr Hornby build included large scale hard stand site drainage, carparks and landscaped areas.

As this was the second Carls Jr restaurant to open within the South Island, there was a lot of local hyped media attention on the project and expectation for the restaurant to open on time. The restaurant opened on the expected opening day, with no lost trading time.

Along with being a geographic first, the openings marks the beginning of a local transformation for the brand, which incorporates the striking new restaurant designs which the company describes as unique to New Zealand, while featuring strong ties to the company’s classic American history.
