Katikati Primary School
Watts & Hughes Construction was engaged to remove four existing classrooms off site and to spin Classroom 25 around and connect it onto the existing buildings. Classroom 25 needed to be completed over the 2015 Christmas holidays and needed to be completed before the school came back for its first term. The other three classrooms had to be removed from site to make room for the new three-block-classroom that we also were contracted to build.
We were also engaged to build a new single storey open area teaching space at Katikati Primary School. The open teaching space classroom was constructed on a concrete ring foundation, with a block base and concrete floor. The pre-cut was constructed out of H1.2 timber framing, 6mm Rab board and 150mm bevelled back timber weather board over a cavity system as the external cladding.
Windows were aluminium and the internal doors were also constructed from aluminium. The roof was constructed with Diamond 0.55mm BMT LT7 colour steel Maxx roofing, timber fascia and Marley Magnum spouting.
Inside ceilings linings were constructed from 1200 x 600 Armstrong RH99 fine fissured medium textured acoustic tiles and the walls consisted of Gib backing board with autex composition boarding. Over the concrete floor we laid vinyl in the kitchen area and carpet tiles to the rest of the areas.
