Countdown Bridge Street
This new 4,000 m2 Countdown was constru ted on an existing Countdown site. The existing supermarket was demolished by Watts & Hughes to make room for the new building. The demolition was completed without a hitch.
The two-storey building has a basement for staff car parking and general offices while the second floor is solely retail space. The second floor was constructed as a PT slab with circular columns and was poured in three stages. While the remaining structure consts of basement concrete slab on ground, basement precast walls, structural steel second storey with a combination of exposed and plain precast panels fo the building envelope
The roof is colour steel with internal box gutters and thre are a number of canopies at the front elevation which are built from sructural steel, timber with membrane finishes.
This project had a number of features including the coloured concrete footpaths on Bridge Street, stone walls at the entrance and on Bridge Street, some GRC precast panels also located on Bridge Street which reflect the CBD footprint and the Waikato River as well as an entrance which has various height canopies.
