This was a collaborative type contract with the Ministry of Education. The work of this project included the development of the existing Whangaparoa College to include a Performing Arts Centre, Visual Arts Centre, Gymnasium, Science/Technology building and new Year 7/8 Classroom Block.

The work of this project comprised 5 separate buildings located throughout the Whangaparoa College campus. Whangaparoa College has a staff and student population of over 1,000 persons and all school operations continued as normal throughout the construction period.

Watts & Hughes prepared and used an extensive set of site specific operating procedures to allow efficient construction while catering for the demands of an operating school. Access and safety of staff and students was a major concern throughout the works.
