Bethlehem Medical Centre
This building was constructed primarily with a light commercial ground floor slab, insitu columns on bearing pads up to first floor, DTT/shell beam precast first floor slab, structural steel top floor and long-run Iron roof with precast walls to south and west elevations. North and east elevations are timber framed with either aluminium panel or aluminium weather boards over cavities.
There are very high quality structural, exterior claddings and materials used on this project.
Sub-contractor quality and performance was monitored throughout the project across all trades, which led to a very well run project.
With the location being a very high profile spot leading out of Bethlehem, the visual impact of the building has been successfully achieved by careful design and excellent execution of the concept by Watts & Hughes.
Time was managed well by all parties; unfortunately time was lost in the last few weeks due to redesigning the car park to meet resource consent requirements, followed by persistent rain from mid-June to mid-July, which substantially delayed kerb and asphalt placement and general exterior completion.
Watts & Hughes also won the contract for the fitout of the Birthing Centre.
