The scope of works included a 170m2 extension to the existing supermarket, to house the growing online shopping aspect of the business. The extension was constructed comprised of concrete slab on grade, precast concrete walls and a steel structure supporting an insulated panel roof. Exterior works involved a standalone structural steel pick up canopy, new drainage installations and carpark resurfacing following recontouring works.

To minimise disruption to the stores staff and customers, internal alteration works were undertaken overnight, outside of the stores trading hours. These included a new entranceway, wall and bulkhead alterations to the store perimeter, checkout/customer services replacement, lighting upgrades, updated decorations, and partial flooring replacement. In the back of house, new floor coverings, decorations and a new team room kitchen were completed.

Works were programmed so that night shift (10pm – 6am) and day shift (7am – 5pm) works were undertaken concurrently, which was managed by two Site Managers. The night shift undertook the instore works, outside of store operational hours, whilst the day shift constructed the new online extension to the West of the original building. The interior (or nightshift works) contract works were completed ahead of Woolworths self-imposed Christmas black-out period, with additional works to provide access to the new online area undertaken once the extension was at a lock up stage.
