Progressive Enterprises contracted Watts & Hughes to build this unique, new Countdown supermarket in Whitianga. It is unique as it does not resemble the traditional Countdown supermarkets that have been built by Watts & Hughes over the past few years as it is more of a hybrid supermarket, designed to suit its location and the smaller market in Whitianga.

Key differences are the interior layout of the supermarket, configuration and layout of services in the retail area which would typically not be acceptable. This included aspects such as the mechanical ducting and layout angles.

The exterior building finishes were also very unique in colour schemes as well as materials.

The project ran smoothly with good communication between all parties ensuring that the project was completed within the original time-frames. The remoteness of the project saw a number of local sub-contractors being engaged.
