Glassworks Industrial Park Warehouses
The project consisted of three major warehouses (DHL, Bridgestone & MOVE Logistics) and two main access roads comprising of approximately 25,000m2 of warehouse and office space.
Bridgestone is the anchor tenant in a multi-unit building, a 5,275m2 development that fronts onto Halswell Junction Road and serves as a new entranceway to the Glassworks Industry Park. Bridgestone has taken a 12-year lease over the 1,125m2 front unit as a sales and servicing facility. The building is an 8m high steel portal frame structure with spans up to 23m, suitable for sub-division and merging of space.
Move Logistics, a contract warehousing specialist with operations in Auckland and Christchurch, moved into a new 5,800m2 purpose-built facility consisting of a 12m high portal frame structure, with two 32m span steel internal frames.
The DHL new warehouse provided 6,871m2 of office and warehouse space together with an extensive canopied yard. The building has a 9m high steel frame, with spans of up to 38m internally. Spine beams were used to ensure very few internal columns.
The project commenced with only 70% design complete. Watts & Hughes worked closely with the design team to ensure that the budget and quality was not compromised.
