Watts & Hughes Construction worked alongside Housing New Zealand Corporation between May 2014 and December 2015 in their R5000 Earthquake Repairs programme. We successfully delivered earthquake repairs, maintenance works, and capital upgrades to over 260 properties owned by HNZC in the Canterbury area; to a total value of $5.7 M. Over the course of the project we were able to deliver works in a sensitive live environment, engage with the surrounding communities, and collaborate with our Client to achieve an innovative approach to the contract management.

The majority of properties scoped for construction works remained tenanted throughout the contract. Our site management team had to coordinate and manage works in a manner that was considerate of tenants and their neighbours in these close community environments, whilst maintaining productivity and efficiency of work.
