Kaiapoi East Changing Rooms & Toilets
The design brief was to supply a two-room changing shed with showers and accessible toilet in each changing room with a referee changing room, plus 3 public use accessible toilets and enough storage space to storage any sports equipment that may be used on the grounds. We designed the building to be constructed out of filled concrete block to be durable and low maintenance. The 180sqm floor area was enhanced with a further 80sqm of cover veranda wrapping the building to allow public shelter if needed.
The low maintenance coloursteel roof was constructed in a low pitch to allow easy access for cleaning the 3 skylights which let ample natural light into the two changing rooms and referees room.
The 3 public toilets are all fully accessible and have magnet locks to allow them to be usable at set times. Inside the changing rooms the 3 showers are on push buttons to minimise the water usage and any steam is removed by the automatic extraction system. The showers are heated by gas califont’s to ensure there is enough hot water for all.
There is full timber bench seating wrapping the changing rooms and hardwearing epoxy floor coatings throughout.
All services are accessed through the service corridor that runs through the centre of the building allowing easy maintenance and servicing and minimising intentional damage.
