With this project Watts & Hughes combined two old classrooms by removing the centre wall and demolishing an adjoining toilet block which created a great big multi-purpose room inside and a big flat area outside that is cobblestoned for the children to play on.

With the demolition of the existing centre wall between the two classrooms a new portal frame had to be installed with new footings to replace the existing timber wall. These old classrooms also lacked wall bracing so much of the existing gib board was removed and new hold down fixings were installed as well as new gib bracing panels. The new gib board bracing panels were installed to most areas of the new multi-purpose room. This meant that all the old pink pin board material could also be removed and the classrooms given an internal spruce up.

New aluminium doors and windows were installed to the exterior of the building removing the old timber weather boards and upgrading them to Linea cladding.

Once the exterior and interior had been completed the roof had to be replaced and Diamond Veedek roofing 0.55 BMT was installed with new gutters and downpipes. This completed the multi-purpose classroom which was handed back to the Omokoroa Point School.
