Packhorse Hut is a Department of Conservation owned bookable, freestanding service hut situated on a low open saddle on the ridge between Mt Bradley and the Remarkable Dykes on the Banks Peninsula.
The hut is built of locally quarried volcanic stone with timber joinery – windows on three elevations – affording remarking views.
The seismic strengthening works include installation of a ceiling diaphragm, new timber framing in roof including stabilisation of the chimney, installation of ties over the entrance archway and stabilisation of the stones above the windows.
