Rotorua Museum of Art & History (Stage III)
This project entails the Stage 3 extension of the museum where a new wing is being added which has to match the existing building which was originally built in the early 1900s.
As mentioned this is a Class 1 Historic building which provides for many challenges such as the excavation of hazardous substances, ground stability issues, the preservation of the existing building as well as the protection of the artefacts contained therein, existing structural complexities such as the inability to be able to load the existing building as well as issues with environmental coatings which have to be applied to the exterior of the building, to mention but a few.
Notwithstanding all these challenges, Watts & Hughes is confident that we will complete another successful project on time, to budget and to the required extremely high quality standards.
