Watts & Hughes were engaged as the main contractor to complete the block 2 classroom modifications at Waipara School. The contract works involved:

Demolition works: Removal of existing W.C and internal walls. Strip internal linings to breakout area. Lift existing flooring. Remove damaged roofing iron and existing skylights. Removal of timber windows and main entrance door. Structural steel install to carry roof after demolition of existing internal load bearing wall

Internal works: Construct 3 x w.c and new breakout area. New aluminium joinery, Autex and gib wall linings, New flooring and joinery units. Paint finish to all gib and final fix carpentry

Exterior: New veranda on piles with a clear light roof and hardies weatherboard. Concrete steps to veranda with anti-slip installed. New deck in piles to front of building incorporating a concrete accessible ramp

After the bulk of the contract works were completed, the client requested us to complete additional works including adding on a triangulated deck to the main entrance, including a sunshade on 300mm x 300mm x 4000mm on posts and a double step down on two sides to ground level. They also requested that we prep and paint all 6 school buildings existing weatherboard and apply aluminium powder coated corners to all school buildings.
